Quiet Sunday

Hi All

I haven't been taking pictures these last days. It's an old bad habit that I find hard to shake. Sorry.

The project is moving along at a steady pace. Sometimes, I feel outpaced by the passing time... but we'll see. The log walls have been joined and will be turned right side up tomorrow. Then our box frame walls can be joined into them, eventually raised on top of them. Many joinery decisions are still fluid, which can be seen as a disaster or opportunity. It is a challenge to have to come up with a process, when the details are being changed, often by people that are actually quite far removed from the process. (I can't believe how diplomatic I was able to express this quite frustrating phenomenon) The lead up time for this project was very short, even if there weren't two countries, continents and cultures involved for each decision making body. In that regard it is rather astonishing that we have come this far at all.
So taking a big step back is a good idea. Having a beer on sunday and going for a walk, before getting back to the imminent decisions also.

Yesterday was pizza and movie night at our digs. Complimented by a brand new axe throwing target ( the first edition was demolished way too easily..) This attracted members of the wedding party from next door. Eventually even the bride and groom. The sight of a bride in white with a double bit axe over her head and a look of determination is something that will stay with me for a while. There were a few bridesmaids in high heels that hit the target convincingly and attractively as well.
The movies were documentations of previous HandsHouse projects. Exhibiting the same kind of approach as this project has, where history is studied, executed and resurrected by a team consisting of professionals and students. Another great evening. One of many.

The integration of the new students worked out great by the way. Tomorrow we'll apply the same approach to a dozen new students from Poland. Hopefully with similar success.

There's a tradition of poetry being read at the end of morning meeting. The hat has been passed to me, so this evenings activity is to find something appropriate... yikes.
